When you think about one of the most influential bands in the history of music, you’re most likely thinking about The Beatles. The Beatles have left their mark on just about every section of the world, and New York is certainly no exception. Citizens of Liverpool can’t be the only ones who rejoice in their history. If you’re a die-hard fan that’s visiting NYC anytime soon, or someone who has recently moved, here are some of the places you can go that give you top notch fab four history:

Strawberry Fields and Central Park:
What better place to start then a spot with a song title? Strawberry Fields is a section of Central Park dedicated to a deceased Beatle, John Lennon. Named after the song, “Strawberry Fields Forever,” this park includes a big open field and a small stone circle that says “Imagine,” after Lennon’s beautiful solo ballad. It’s a perfect spot to pay your respects to the musical legend, and there are usually people playing music there. It’s peaceful, and even a bit spiritual.

The Dakota:
Continuing with the Lennon legacy, another breathtaking place you can go to is his the home he lived in during his final years. Located on 1 W 72nd Street, this 110-foot tall building is most famous for being John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s home from 1973 to the year of Lennon’s death, 1980. Taking a more somber turn, this building was also famous for being the spot where Lennon was murdered. Although this makes the spot sound haunted, it is indeed very peaceful, and another great spot to pay respects.

The Ed Sullivan Theater:
Some of the most popular Beatles footage is without a doubt, their Ed Sullivan performances. From the screaming girls to the giggling of the cute young lads, these videos captured all of the magic about an early Beatles performance. The best part is, they were filmed in New York! Now the home of the “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” this theater between West 53rd and West 54th is still alive and prospering. Even though the fab four will never have another performance there again, it’s still fun to take a picture with and to say that you were outside one of the first venues that The Beatles went to in America.
There are many many more places to visit in the city if you want a full Beatles experience, but those are my personal favorites. This band’s legacy will carry on until the end of time, and NYC’s dedications will carry on with it.
