The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Founded in 1870, this museum is truly encyclopedic. At the Museum of Art, you get to see statues from the very beginnings of civilization. The most amazing thing is the way the chronological range of the collections is matched by their geographical scope.

It is fair enough to state that this place’s wealth of treasures truly demonstrates humankind’s protean nature, perseverance, craft, and genius. In addition to that, The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a rooftop garden area that also features periodic art installations.

The Met has two locations that fascinate visitors with permanent collections and rotating exhibits.

For visitors from outside the state of New York, admission starts at $25 for adults with discounts for seniors and students. Children 12 and younger get in free. For New York residents with a valid ID or library card, admission is “pay what you want.” This also extends to students from Connecticut and New Jersey.

Address of the Metropolitan Museum of Art: 1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10028.

Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum

For instance, the Willi Smith Street Couture explores the iconic work of Willi Smith, a streetwear pioneer. He is an American Designer. At gallery 2, you will get the opportunity to explore the work of prolific textile designer Suzie Zuze. Throughout the Museum, there is a chance to gain an understanding of how designers across the centuries have observed nature, investigated its materials, and imitated and abstracted its patterns and shapes to create diversified fashion.

However, it is important to note that timed-entry tickets are required for access. You can now reserve your tickets online at cooperhewitt.org. There are only a limited number of tickets available for reservation each day for walk-ups.

The Rubin Museum of Art is a collection of paintings, sculptures, and textiles from the Himalayas and surrounding regions. In addition to that, the Rubin exhibits featured pieces that mostly date back to the 12th century and onwards. The pieces are presented along with illuminating education materials to help patrons understand the different lenses through which the art can be viewed.

New exhibitions, such as Modernist Art from India, are rotated throughout the year.
