Exploring the Mifune Menu
Food menu
Now to the best part, the food! Mifune is known for its traditional authentic Japanese cooking and is proudly labeled ‘washoku’. Moreover, it is led by French- and Japanese-trained chefs Yuu Shimano (Restaurant Guy Savoy) and Tomohiro Urata (Maison Troisgros).
It is fair enough to say that art and flavor are beautifully blended at Mifune to make their complex meals super delightful. Yes, they serve delicious sushi and sashimi, but if you turn your attention to the rest of the menu, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Their menu has a couple of unusual dishes from bone marrow, scallops, Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu to pickles – crazy! For instance, the foie gras terrine served with hacho miso and corn chips or the straw-smoked lamb chop in black garlic miso sauce is a must-try.
Tender chunks of lobster are interspersed with Ibérico chorizo across a bed of quinoa, dressed in a lobster curry sauce for the seafood lovers should be an absolute delight. They offer vegetarian-friendly dishes too.
The presentation on the other hand is on a whole new level of exquisite – with some yuzu, truffles, and caviar on the plate to treat your eyes too.
Desserts, an important part of the dinner presentation, are as carefully sculpted as the main courses; a delicious choice is vanilla winter truffle ice cream with a no-bake chocolate terrine and whiskey crème brûlée.
Above is a Uni Truffle Roll. It is wrapped in sweet seaweed topped with fresh Sea Urchin and Black Truffles. It is creamy, delicate, and it will melt in your mouth as soon as it hits your tongue. The Black Truffles gives the dish the extra earthy flavor that it needed. A beautiful presented dish needs no more explanation.
Drinks Menu
As for the drinks, it changes seasonally. Shingo Gokan is the magician mixologist at Mifune serving dramatic yet elegant drinks such as the Seven Samurai.
The Seven Samurai is a potent mix of rye whiskey, aged saké, sherry and bitters, finished tableside with a flourish of cinnamon smoke.
In addition to that, Mifune Restaurant has a diverse selection of red, white, and sparkling wines from Europe and the U.S. Wine and saké pairing suggestions are on the menus.
