On September 11, fashion designer Jessica Van showcased her talents to a packed house in New York City as part of The Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers Showcase. Van, a resident of Australia, took the risk of leaving her study of science to break into the fashion world. Her designs had a very different look, incorporating various aspects of the world of nature.
Van used the inspiration from the world she saw around her to create her original and explorative designs. She used the world of the Australian fauna and floral to represent her line. The designer worked with beautiful corals and soft fabrics against rugged chainlike materials.
With the different textures and fabric, Van was the center of attention as the models took the runway. With their heads adorned in long branches, it added height and set her models apart from the rest.
Van’s collection uses soft fabrics against rugged backgrounds that allowed the colors to be enhanced. We look forward to what else Jessica Van has in store!
