Virtual Reality Takes Over Manhattan

You have read this correctly. If you are a huge fan of VR, such as myself, then you have come to the right place. Virtual reality has been sweeping the nation this past year, and now that fully tested machines are on the market, everyone wants to try out this mind-blowing trend. Unfortunately, these consoles are about as expensive as they are awesome. Reaching hundreds of dollars, not everyone has the riches to own an Oculus Rift or a Vive. Luckily, there are other ways that you will be able to try out these consoles, and they are all in the city! Here are a couple of events that will allow you to step into the world of Virtual Reality.

Microsoft Store – Fifth Avenue

Fifth Avenue is a hotspot for tourists and fashionistas alike. Not only famous for clothes, however, this long strip of retail heaven also has a Microsoft store for those who can’t get enough tech. On 677 of Fifth Avenue, this store offers a demo for their new HTC Vive, which is just buzzing with positive reviews. Customers will be able to enjoy an incredible experience viewing what the Website calls “Hyperrealistic virtual worlds.” Each demo lasts about 10 minutes, and it will cost nothing to try it. This experience will run exclusively with Windows 10 and Alienware.

Madame Tussauds – Times Square

Although Times Square is quite infamous for being a strictly tourist location, everyone should take the opportunity to visit Madame Tussauds Wax Museum for a once in a lifetime VR experience. Located on 234 W 42nd Street, this Museum is offering a chance to place yourself in the world of Ghost Busters with their new exhibit called “The Void.” This exhibit will suit you up in armor and a gun along with a VR headset, and you will be able to walk along an apartment infested with Ghosts from the popular movie franchise. You will be able to shoot, and even capture these ghosts during the experience, so it is 100 percent interactive! Admission along with the exhibit costs $49.75. This is just the beginning of mind altering experiences for “The Void,” so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for more events in the future!

There is no doubt that VR will continue to have an impact around the world, and that their tech will expand way beyond just headsets and controllers. Make sure to look out for updates on more Virtual Reality experiences in NYC to come!
